HDClone X.7 Free Edition
========================

If you already have this software on a bootable media, you can ignore
the following section.

--- BOOTABLE MEDIA -----------------------------------------------------

You can create a bootable CD/DVD or a USB boot stick from which you can
boot this program without an operating system as follows:

WINDOWS
|
| With installation (Setup.exe):
| Start Setup.exe and go through the installation. After completion,
| open the Boot Setup via the Windows start menu.
|
| Without installation (ZIP package):
| Unzip the files if necessary and open the Boot Setup by starting
| "HDClone.exe install".
|
| In Boot Setup you can choose to create a
| » USB boot stick, a
| » bootable CD/DVD or an
| » ISO image.

UNIX / Linux / MacOS
|
| Download the program package with the alternative Hybrid-ISO option.
| From this hybrid ISO file, you can use
|
| » "cdrecord hdclone.iso" to burn a bootable CD/DVD directly or
|
| » "dd if=hdclone.iso of=<device-node>" to create a USB boot stick.
|
| You can of course also use other tools for this. In particular, many
| file managers also allow the direct burning of an ISO file.

--- PROGRAM START ------------------------------------------------------

FROM BOOTABLE CD/DVD OR USB KEY
|
| Insert the bootable CD/DVD or connect the USB boot stick and start
| the PC. Use the BIOS/UEFI setup or the boot menu (F9 / F10 / F12) to
| ensure that the PC will boot from this disk.

IN WINDOWS
|
| With installation:
| Start HDClone directly from the Windows start menu.
|
| Without installation:
| Start the HDClone.exe file.

IN LINUX (requires optional add-on)
|
| 1. Copy the "HDClone.AppImage" file to the Linux Desktop.
| 2. Set the file properties to "Executable".
| 3. Start from Linux shell with "sudo -E ./Desktop/HDCLone.AppImage".
|
| NOTE: In some installations of Linux, "Desktop" has to be replaced
| by the localized name of the desktop folder.

--- OPERATION MANUAL ---------------------------------------------------

Further information on starting and operating HDClone can be found in
the manual (Manual.pdf) or in the help (Help.chm).
